McDonald has been praised for his work as the SNP’s spokesperson for defence at Westminster and has been vocal in his support for Ukraine in the wake of the Russian invasion.

A proud evening last night in the Glasgow Marriott as my dad, much to his surprise, took home the inaugural Calum Cashley Staffer of the Year Award at @theSNP St. Andrew’s Dinner, after 30 years as National Fundraiser. Thankfully I was told in advance so I could make it along! 😁 pic.twitter.com/lHOfPkKO7e
