A Duncraig man is facing a string of charges after allegedly speeding away from police in a stolen car late last night.
Police said officers tried to stop a stolen Mercedes Benz A200 hatchback on Balga Avenue, Mirrabooka, about 11.15pm but the driver allegedly continued to drive at high speeds.
Dramatic vision from the Police Air Wing shows the driver travelling the wrong way down the road before he stops and tries to flee on foot after abandoning the car on Forster Avenue in Lathlain.
Police dog Gunner helped tracked down the man with the assistance of the police helicopter, before he is seen in the vision appearing to hide behind a bush.
Officers catch up to him and he is then taken into custody.
Police allege the car had been taken from a Girrawheen home earlier in the day and was linked to a fuel drive-off incident in Balga.
It was also linked to another two incidents of failing to stop when ordered to by police.
A 37-year-old man has been charged with 17 offences, including burglary, stealing and evading police.
He appeared in court today where he was remanded without bail to appear again next month .
