Thousands line Perth streets for magical Christmas pageant

Thousands of excited children lined St Georges Terrace to catch a glimpse of the North Pole’s most famous resident during the 51st Alinta Energy Christmas Pageant.

Eighty themed floats brought the heart of Perth to a standstill on Saturday night, travelling along the terrace between King Street and Victoria Avenue before the parade ended in Langley Park.

And despite the pageant boasting some of WA’s most recognisable faces, there was a clear favourite among the crowd of smiling faces — Santa Claus. Father Christmas made an early visit to Perth for the pageant and was joined by 7NEWS weather presenter Samantha Jolly on the final float.
