Robinson breaks de Castella’s marathon record

Live
Brett Robinson has broken the long-standing Australian marathon record held by distance running legend Robert de Castella.
Athletics Australia tweeted that Robinson ran the Fukuoka International Marathon on Sunday in two hours seven minutes 31 seconds.
The old record of 2:07:51 had stood since de Castella won the 1986 Boston Marathon.
In October, Robinson became only the sixth Australian to go under 2:10 at the London Marathon.
At 31, the two-time Olympian is five years younger than the duration of de Castella’s Australian record.
