Kim Kardashian’s gut-wrenching tribute to designer Virgil Abloh

Kim Kardashian is the latest celebrity to pay tribute to fashion designer and TV star Virgil Abloh in a heartbreaking social media post.

The reality star, 41, shared an emotional message about her friend Abloh on Instagram after the Louis Vuitton designer died following a private battle with cancer.

“God doesn’t make mistakes. I know that but I still can’t help but ask why,” Kardashian captioned the post, alongside a series of images of Abloh.

“Why Virgil?! Why him so soon? it’s simply hard to understand why. I have a hard time understanding why so many pure souls were taken away so early.

“Virgil — you were always so gentle, kind and calm. You somehow made time for everyone.”

Kardashian had been friends with Abloh, 41, for years after the pair met through her estranged husband Kanye West.

West appointed Abloh creative director of his company, Donda.

“We also talked about your superpower of calmness often. You always gave so much of yourself to the world because you wanted it to be doper. This one is hard to process. I can’t even believe I am writing this…” Kardashian continued.

“We will miss you so much Virgil and love you so much. Also I would love to send so much love to his wife Shannon. Because you loved and supported Virgil the way that you did, he was able to give so much of himself everyone else.”

The KUWTK star finished her post with a sweet mention of Abloh’s widow Shannon and his two children.

“So thank you truly for sharing him with us the way that you did. Virgil’s legacy will live on forever through Shannon, Lowe and Grey,” she wrote.

A raft of other celebrities also paid tribute to the popular fashion designer following his death, including Hailey Bieber, Pharrell Williams, Victoria Beckham and Idris Elba.

Abloh — who has been hailed the Karl Lagerfeld of his generation — had been privately fighting cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare form of cancer, for the past two years before his death on November 28.

Abloh’s family said in a statement the designer had “chose to endure his battle privately” since he was diagnosed in 2019.
