Warm Home Discount warning as fears grow Britons could lose out on £140 if firms go bust

The Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng also appeared on ITV this morning, where he was grilled by presenter Susanna Reid on the matter.

He stated: “What I’ve said, and of course, all of this will be flushed out in the Budget, but we have to protect the most vulnerable customers. The Warm Home Discount is one way we do that, but there are other ways as well, such as Winter Fuel Payments.

“We have discussions about the Budget, but I cannot possibly preempt or anticipate what will be in that Budget ahead of time.

“I am very keen to keep the Warm Home Discount as well as other winter fuel payments. That is why, under considerable pressure from energy companies, I have rejected their call to eliminate the price cap.
